Chapter 5 – Daydreaming

She was finally home alone.

She smiled as her dog hopped on the couch to take a nap, she grabbed her old Sony Erickson phone and her cheap earbuds and started dancing.

Suddenly she wasn’t in her living room anymore, but at a party with her boyfriend Nick holding her by the waist as they danced and sing to the song that was playing. He made her feel warm inside, and the butterflies were taking over her stomach, was that the night he was finally going to kiss her?

The alarm on her phone when off, she needed to walk her good ol’ rescue dog, she never used the newspaper, preferring the cold concrete of the streets. As they walked she popped her earbuds in again.

She was now walking her dog in the glamorous streets of New York City, sometimes she’d see a flash coming from behind a tree and smile to herself knowing that paparazzi never failed to come after her while she walked her dog. Before she could make it to the door of her apartment building, dreaming of taking a shower in her black marble bathtub, a couple of girls came over and asked for her autograph and some pictures. She loved interacting with fans, even staying a little longer to chat with them.

She pressed one of the open buttons on her small remote and watched the garage gates open, some of the cleaning ladies were about to take off piles of trash to leave on the sidewalk. They talked for a short while, and she made her way down the ramp with her dog, stopping once or twice at the sigh of cockroach running from under one car to the other.

Her bath was splendid, as she listen to soft guitar tunes, she sipped on her wine and breathed in the smell of expensive candles. It was getting colder, tv said it was probably going to snow in a couple of days. She loved the snow, it looked beautiful and magical specially while falling from the sky. She laid back and look through the ceiling high window next to the tub, she loved living in the US.

She opened the door and let her dog off the leash, who ran inside for a drink of water. They couldn’t go to the park because it was too sunny, the hot concrete could hurt her dog’s paws, so they just walked in front of the building. São Paulo always had the hottest days, specially when it was cold in the States. She wanted to shower, but the dishes were pilling up and if her mother arrived home and saw that, she’d be in big trouble. Unfortunately thought, her phone’s battery had died, guess she couldn’t daydream to her pop songs for a couple of hours…
